UNDP in Kyrgyzstan is seeking suitable candidates for the Chief Technical Specialist position with the team of ENVSEC Uranium Project. The project is a response to a joint declaration adopted at a high-level Forum entitled «Uranium Tailings in Central Asia: Local Problems, Regional Consequences, Global Solution» held in Geneva on 29th June 2009. The overall objective of the project is to assist in transforming the scientific knowledge and the political will into development and implementation of prioritized interventions.
The Chief Technical Specialist (CTS) under the overall guidance of the UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan, UNDP Senior International Adviser on Environment and under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager will contribute to the implementation of the ENVSEC Uranium Project.
The CTS will be based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and will provide support and advisory services to the ENVSEC Uranium Project including all Central Asian countries' Focal Points involved in the project implementation. The CTS will also work in close collaboration with the ENVSEC Regional Desk Officer at UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre. The CTS will also co-ordinate his/her activities with representatives of the international community, multilateral and bilateral donors and representatives of the Project Board.
